  28 KM from Mayavaram, a temple exists in the midst of paddy fields in the northern bank of river Cauvery where a celestial turned Crab reportedly worshipped Lord Shiva and got the curse reversed. The temple is called Lord Karkateshwarar Temple situated in a hamlet called Thiruvisainallur near Thirunthuthevankudi village two kilometers away from Kumbakonam. The temple has two interesting legends. Thousands of years ago, in a forest, Sage Durvasa was performing puja to Lord Shiva. One of the Celestial from Deva Loga who happened to pass by mocked at the manner in which Sage Durvasa was performing Lord Shiva puja, without knowing who the sage was. ரெட்டை ஹனுமார் ஆலயங்கள்  நாங்கள் சில நாட்களுக்கு முன்னால் மாயவரம்- கும்பகோணத்துக்கு சென்று இருந்தபோது சில ரெட்டை ஹனுமார் ஆலயங்களை பார்க்க நேரிட்டது. ஒரே சன்னதியில் இரண்டு தெய்வங்களாக ஹனுமார் சிலைகளை பிரதிஷ்டை செய்து இருந்தார்கள். ஒரே சன்னதியில் இரண்டு வினாயக பகவான் சிலைகள் உள்ள ஆலயங்களை பார்த்து இருக்கின்றோம். ஆனால் இரட்டை தெய்வமாக ஹனுமான் உள்ள ஆலயங்களை பார்த்தது இதுவே முதல் முறை ஆகும். சாதாரணமாக ஆலயங்களில் மூல சன்னதியில் பல தோற்றங்களில் ஆலயத்தின் பிரதான தெய்வம் அமர்ந்திருந்தாலும், அவர்களுடைய இரண்டு சிலைகள் இருக்காது. ஆனால் இந்த மூன்று ஆலயத்திலும் ஒரே சன்னதியில் பகவான் ஹனுமாரின் இரண்டு சிலைகள் பிரதிஷ்டை செய்யப்பட்டு இருந்தன. அவற்றில் இரண்டு ஆலயங்களைக் குறித்த வரலாறு புராணங்களில் காணப்படவில்லை என்றாலும் அவற்றில் இரண்டு ஆலயங்கள் கிராமியக் கதைகளை மையமாகக் கொண்டவை. மூன்றாவதில் சிறு புராணக் கதை உள்ளது . மேலே உள்ளவை மேல ப் பாதி  கிராம ரெட்டை ஹனுமார் ஆலயத்தின் படங்கள் மேல ப் பாதி கிராம ஆலயம் குறித்து கூறப்படும் கதை என்ன என்றால் பல நூறு வருடங்களுக்கு...

Lord Twins Hanuman Temples In a recent tour to Mayavaram- Kumbakonam (Nagapattinam district in Tamilnadu) we visited few temples where two idols of Lord Hanuman were enshrined together in the main sanctum. They are called Twins Hanuman temple. We ha d seen two idols of Lord Vinayaga enshrined together in single sanctum in some temples, but not two idols of Lord Hanuman enshrined in the sanctum. It is quite normal in temples to see the presiding deity appearing in different forms, but the same presiding may not be seen as twins. Therefore for the first time we were astonished to see two idols of Lord Hanuman enshrined as presiding deity in few temples in this shethra. All the three are situated in villages. While two of those temples are encompassed with folklore without puranic reference, the third one near Pateeswaram has a puranic story attached with it. தமிழ்நாட்டின் கும்பகோணத்தில் இருந்து சுமார் எட்டு கிலோமீட்டர் தொலைவில் உள்ள திருவிசைநல்லூர் எனும் சின்ன கிராமத்தில் உள்ளது ஆயிரம் ஆண்டுகள் பழமையான சதுர்கால பைரவர் ஆலயம். இதை சிவயோகிநாதர் ஆலயம் என்றும் யோக நந்தீஸ்வரர்  ஆலயம் என்றும் சிலர் கூறுகிறார்கள். ஆலயம் தஞ்சாவூர் அரண்மனை தேவஸ்தானத்தின் பராமரிப்பில் உள்ளது. இங்குள்ள மூலவர் சிவயோகநாதர் என்றாலும்  நான்கு யுகங்களுக்கு அதிபதியாக அவரே நியமித்த தனது அவதாரமான பைரவருக்கே இங்கு அதிக முக்கியத்துவம் தர வேண்டும் என சிவபெருமான் எண்ணியத்தினால் இங்கு பகவான் பைரவர் நான்கு யுகத்தின் தோற்றத்தில் சதுர்முக பைரவராக காட்சி தருகிறார்.  இந்த ஆலயத்துக்கு வந்து சிவபெருமானை வழிபட்டப் பின் சதுர்கால (நான்கு யுக) பைரவர்களை வணங்கித் துதிக்காவிடில் பக்தர்களது கோரிக்கை நிறைவேறாது என்பது நம்பிக்கை ஆகும். இந்த ஆலய வரலாறு சுவையானது. முன்னொரு காலத்தில் இந்த ஆலயம் உள்ள பகுதியில் சத்ய யுகத்தில் ஒரு நல்ல பண்டிதர் வாழ்ந்திருந்தார். சதா காலமும் சிவபெருமானின் நாமத்தை உச்சரித்து வந்தவண்ணம் இருந்த பெரும் சிவபக்தராக அவர்  இருந்தாலும்,...

In a place called Thiruvisainallur, eight Kilometers away from Kumbakonam, a 1000 year old temple called Chathurkala Bhairava temple exists. The other names of the temple are Sivayoginathar or Yoga Nandeeswarar temple. This temple is under the administration of Thanjavur Palace Devasthanam. Though the presiding deity in the temple is Lord Sivayoginathar and his consort as Goddess Soundarya Nayagi, Lord Shiva has given prime importance to one of his own manifestation Lord Bhairava who is called Chathurkala Bhairava, enshrined here in four forms of Lord Bhairava representing four Yugas.
