எந்த ஒரு ஆலயத்திலும் மரத்தின் வேர் காயாமல் உள்ள பெரிய மரத்தில் வடிவமைக்கப்பட்ட மூலவரின் சிலையை காண முடியாது. அப்படி இருந்தால் அது தெய்வ மகிமையாக இருக்கும். பூரி ஜகந்நாதர் ஆலயத்திலும் கூட மூலவர் சிலைகளை மரங்களை வெட்டி எடுத்த மரத்தின் கட்டையில்தான் வடிவமைக்கின்றார்கள். ஆனால் 14 அடி  உயர விஷ்ணு பகவானின் மூலவர் சிலை மிகப் பெரிய அத்தி மரத்தில் வடிவமைக்கப்பட்டு உள்ளதை மாயவரத்தில் கும்பகோணம் செல்லும் பாதையில் உள்ள மாப்படுகை எனும் கிராம ஆலயத்தில் உள்ள வான்முட்டி ஆலயத்தில்   மட்டுமே காண முடியும். இப்படி ஒரு அதிசயத்தை வேறு எந்த ஆலயத்திலும் காண இயலாது. பூமியில் இருந்து ஆகாயத்தை தொடும் அளவுக்கு காட்சி தரும் விஷ்ணு பகவானை இங்கு வான்முட்டி பெருமாள் என அழைக்கின்றார்கள். அந்த மூலவர் சிலை வடிவமைக்கப்பட்ட அத்தி மரத்தின் வேர்கள் கூட இன்னும் காயாமல் உள்ளது இன்னொரு அதிசயமாம்.  இந்த ஆலயம் 2000 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முற்பட்டது. 12 ஆம் நூற்றாண்டில் இரண்டாம் குலோத்துங்க சோழன் காலத்தில் கட்டப்பட்ட ஆலயம் என்றும், ஆனால் தேவலோகத்தை சேர்ந்த அந்த தெய்வீக அத்தி மரம் 5000 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு ம...

One may not have seen gigantic presiding deity in any temple, fully carved out of a Fig tree, with the roots of tree still wet and the tree not growing. It could only be a divine wonder.  Even in Puri Jagannath temple the statues of the presiding deities are carved out of logs of the wood of special tree after the y are cut to size. Contrary to all,  14 feet high statue of presiding deity Lord Vishnu has been carved out of single big Fig tree and enshrined in the Vanmutti Peruma n   temple near Mayavaram in a small village called Maappadugai. The village is five KM from Mayavaram on way to Kumbakonam. Nowhere in the world a statue made out of Fig tree appears in any one of the temples except in Vanmutti temple . தமிழ்நாட்டின் மாயவரம் மாவட்டத்தில் உள்ள சீர்காழியில் ஐந்து நரசிம்ம ஆலயங்கள் தோன்றக் காரணமே திருமங்கை ஆழ்வார் எனும் விஷ்ணு பக்தர்  ஆவார். அங்குள்ள ஐந்து ஆலயங்களின் வரலாற்றுப் பின்னணிக் கதை சுவையானது. அந்த ஐந்து உத்தமமான நரசிம்மத் பெருமாள் ஆலயங்களிலும் ஒரே நாளில் சென்று வழிபட்டால் கடன் தொல்லை குறையும், எதிரிகள் தொல்லை விலகும், தடைப்பட்ட திருமணம் நடைபெறும், மன அமைதி கிடைக்கும் என்பது நம்பிக்கை ஆகும்.   ஓரிரு கிலோமீட்டர் தள்ளித் தள்ளி ஒரே இடத்தில் அமைந்துள்ள இந்த ஐந்து ஆலயங்களும் திவ்ய தேசத்தில் காணப்படும் ஆலயங்கள் ஆகும். திருமங்கை ஆழ்வார் பன்னிரண்டு ஆழ்வார்களில் ஒருவர் ஆவார் . அவர் கள்ளர் எனும் பிரிவில் பிறந்தவர். சீர்காழி நகரின் அருகில் உள்ள மங்கை மடம் எனும் ஊரில் இருந்து ஐந்து கிலோ தொலைவில் உள்ள திருக்கறையலூர் எனும் ஊரில் பிறந்தவர். சோழ மன்னர்கள் ஆட்சியில் இருந்தபோது மங்கை மடம் எனும் பகுதிக்கு குறுநில மன்னராக திருமங்கை மன்னன் என்பவர் நியமிக்கப்பட்டார். அவர் உண்மையில் யார்? சோழ மன்னர்கள் அரசாண்டு கொண்டு இருந்த காலத்தில் திருக்கறையலூர் பகுதியில் வைஷ...

Thirumangai Azhwar was deeply devoted to the service of Lord Vishnu. His unflinching faith and devotion to the L o rd caused the emergence of  five temples for Lord Narasimma   in Seergazhi in Mayavaram district in Tamilnadu. The history behind them is quite interesting. It is believed that those who visit all the five temples in a single day and worship Lord Narasimma, their long standing debts will get cleared , hidden enemies will be destroyed, hindrances in marriages will go away and peace of mind will prevail.
