மிகப் பழமை வாய்ந்த பல நூற்றாண்டுகளுக்கு முந்தைய தேவியின் ஒரு ஆலயம் சென்னையின் நெரிச்சலான ஒரு சாலையில் அமைந்துள்ளது. இந்த ஆலயத்தின் வரலாறு குறித்தோ அல்லது மகிமைக் குறித்தோ பலருக்கும் தெரிந்து இருக்கவில்லை. காளிகாம்பாள் ஆலயம் எனப்படும் இந்த ஆலயத்தின் மூல தேவியான பரப்பிரும்ம சொரூபிணி காளிகாம்பாள் சென்னையின் கடற்கரையில் சுமார் 2000 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்னர் எழுந்தருளி தற்போது ஆலயம் உள்ள இடத்தில் வந்து அமர்ந்துள்ளாள். ஆலயம் 400 வருடங்களுக்கு முற்பட்டது என கூறுகின்றனர். ஆனால் வேறு சிலர் அது தவறு ஆலயம் 400 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு உள்ளாகவே எழுப்பப்பட்டதாக இருந்தாலும் அந்த ஆலயத்தின் தேவி 2000 வருடங்களுக்கு முற்பட்டவள் எனக் கூறுகிறார்கள். அதற்குக் காரணம் 2000 வருடங்களுக்கு முன்னர் வாழ்ந்ததாக நம்பப்படும் ஆதி சங்கரர் அந்த தேவியின் உக்ரஹத்தைப் பார்த்துவிட்டு, பின்னாளில் அந்த தேவியை வணங்கி துதிக்க வர உள்ள பக்தர்களுக்கு அவளது கோபம் எந்த விதத்திலும் துன்பத்தைக் கொடுக்கக் கூடாது என்பதற்காக அந்த தேவியின் உக்ரஹத்தைக் குறைக்க அவள் காலடியில் அர்த்த மேரு யந்திரத்தை பிரதிஷ்டை செய்து உள்ளார் என்பதே. 1640 ஆம் ஆண...

One of the most famous and several centuries year old temple for Goddess Kaligambal,an aspect of Goddess Kamatchi Amman exists in a busy and congested street in heart of Chennai, Tamilnadu. Unfortunately many are unaware of its glory and the historical importance of the deity. Popularly known as Kaligambal Devi Temple, the main deity Kaligambal reportedly manifested in Chennai sea shore some 2000 years back and stayed there for several years before moving into the present temple site. மயிலாடுதுறை மற்றும் கும்பகோணத்துக்கு இடையே, அதாவது மயிலாடுதுறையில் இருந்து சுமார் எட்டு மைல் தொலைவில் குற்றாலம் எனும் தாலுக்காவில் உள்ளது ஷேத்ரபாலபுரம் எனும் சிற்றூர். இங்குதான் ஆனந்த கால பைரவர் என்ற பெயரில் காலபைரவர் எழுந்தருளி உள்ள மேன்மை வாய்ந்த, பல நூற்றாண்டுகளுக்கு முற்பட்ட ஆலயம் உள்ளது. இது அமைந்த காலம் அல்லது அங்கு பைரவர் வழிபாடு துவங்கியதின் காரணம் போன்றவை எவருக்கும் தெரியவில்லை என்றாலும் இந்த ஆலயத்தின் மேன்மை அளவிட முடியாதது. தென் பகுதியில் பைரவருக்கு என எங்குமே தனிக் கோவில் கிடையாது. ஆனால் ஷேத்ரபாலபுரத்தில் மட்டும் பைரவருக்கு தனி ஆலயம் அமைந்து இருந்தது ( கடந்த 10-15 ஆண்டுகளில் இன்னும் சில மாநிலங்களில் பைரவருக்கு புதியதாக கட்டப்பட்டு உள்ள தனி ஆலயங்கள் எழுந்துள்ளன ). அது குற்றாலம் தாலுக்காவில் அமைந்துள்ள இடமாகும். இங்குள்ள பைரவர் தனது பயங்கரமான தோற்றத்தோடு காட்சி தராமல் அமைதியாக புன்னகை பூத்தவண்ணம் தன்னை நாடி வந்து குடும்பத்தில் அமைதி நிலவ வேண்டும், நோய் விலக வேண்டும், குழந்தை பிறக்க வேண்டும் என்ற பிரார்த்தனைகளை முன்வைத்து தமக்கு பாவக்காய் அல்லது பூஷணிக்காயில் எண்ணை நிர...

Some decades ago independent shrines for God Bhairava were not there in south except the one in Kshetrabalapuram a small hamlet in Kuttalam Taluk, situated eight km from Mayiladuthurai on way to Kumbakonam. A small, but divinely glorious shrine for God Bhairava in the name of Ananda Kala Bhairava exists. None knows the origin of this centuries old shrine or who initially commenced God Bhairava worship there, but the divinity of  God Bhairava in this  glorious shrine cannot be  disputed.
